Day 17 - mile 4916 6:30am We stop for breakfast in Manistee, MI. It's early yet for the town, so I drive around looking for likely breakfast spots. Along the way, I happened to catch the sunrise over Lake Manistee

I also tried capturing a video, not sure how well it will show up. In person, it was pretty. :-)
We settle on House of Flavors for breakfast. it's pretty good and the best part is that after breakfast, there's ice cream!!!

Day 17 - mile 4937

We arrive at my Uncle Jim's place on Bear Lake and have a nice visit with numerous relatives. It's like a little Douglas village sprouts up every July there. It was kind of fun to see

We're on our way up to Mackinac Island.
Day 17 - mile 4997
5:30pm
We pull into the dock for Shepler's Ferry. I'd bought tickets ahead of time, so it's incredibly efficient. In less than 15 minutes, the bikes are off the car and put together, we have our borading tickets and the car is parked (via valet). We're standing around with time to spare before boarding the 6pm ferry to the island. Definitely the way to do this.

After 18 minutes, we zip off the ferry on Mackinac Island. It's very cool. We make our way to our inn. The good news is that it's picturesce and quiet. The bad news is that it's about 2 miles away from the landing. We have our bikes and have packed light, so we're off.

We have dinner at the inn. We're eating on the terrace and the view is awesome.

The place is a little "grown up" for Katie, but they are very welcoming of kids and Katie immediately "gets it". She's having a great time and wants to come back.
